Community Futures 16/37 is guided by an independent Board of Directors, made up of volunteers generally from the business communities of the area we serve. They offer unique perspectives and dedicate their time and energy to the commitment of supporting entrepreneurial activity.
Our current Board of Directors:

Calvin Carlick
Iskut – Chair
Calvin Carlick Calvin holds a Master of Business Administration in Executive Management and Bachelor of Commerce in Entrepreneurial Management, both from Royal Roads University. Calvin is Vice President of Partnerships at TNDC, is an accomplished executive leader with more than 15 years of experience in indigenous economic development, strategic partnerships, and organizational leadership. Prior roles include Chief Administrative Officer with Tahltan Central Government and Economic Development Officer for Kitselas First Nation and the Iskut Band.

Norm Stephen
Nass Valley – Vice Chair
Norman Stephens Jr. is an experienced financial services and project administration professional with more than 20 years of leadership and operational experience. Currently working as a Capital Project Administrator with the Nisga’a Lisims Government over the past 4 years he has applied his extensive operational knowledge to support effective project delivery and organizational success. Working previously at the Royal Bank of Canada his expertise ranged from branch operations, lending and mortgage support, team leadership, and client service excellence.

Rick McDaniel
Terrace – Secretary Treasurer
Rick McDaniel is a respected real estate professional with deep roots in Northwest British Columbia and decades of experience in business, forestry, and community leadership. With extensive knowledge of the Terrace region and surrounding communities, Rick brings valuable insight into the area’s economic landscape and investment opportunities. In addition to his real estate expertise, he has held numerous leadership roles with local organizations, reflecting his longstanding commitment to community development, volunteerism, and supporting the growth and prosperity of the region.

Billie Belcher
Stewart – Director
Billie Belcher brings decades of experience in business, governance, and community leadership. A business owner with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Washington, Billie has held numerous leadership roles, including District of Stewart Councillor, Kitimat-Stikine Regional District Board member, and director on several community organizations. Through ongoing volunteer service and a longstanding commitment to the Northwest region, Billie is recognized for supporting strong communities, effective governance, and sustainable regional growth.

Chad Day
Telegraph Creek – Director
Chad Day is an entrepreneur, has his Juris Doctorate in Law at the University of Victoria, and holds extensive experience in governance, economic development, and natural resource management. He served for ten years as President of the Tahltan Central Government, where he led strategic initiatives, built partnerships with industry and government, and advanced opportunities that supported the long-term prosperity of the Tahltan Nation. He is currently running his own business Thadu Consulting.

Dave Newman
Terrace – Director
David Newman is an accomplished business leader with more than four decades of experience in aviation, transportation logistics, and operational management. As the longtime CEO of Sunrise Enterprises, he led the delivery of specialized aviation and logistical services supporting mining, forestry, utilities, emergency response, and infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia. He has also dedicated many years to community service through heritage preservation and local organizations, reflecting his longstanding commitment to the Northwest region.

Walsham Tenshak
Kitimat – Director
Walsham is an economic development professional with a strong record of working in the non-profit and local government sectors. She currently serves as the Director of Economic Development and Communications for the District of Kitimat. Enthusiastic about the immense potential for development in northwest BC, Walsham prioritizes working with businesses, various community and First Nation partners to realize this potential.
Join Our Board
The Board of Directors of Community Futures is made up of residents from the 16/37 Region. Directors must be at least 18 years of age and possess a good knowledge of the economic, business and social components of the community they represent. The Board of Directors will reflect the demographic of the 16/37 Region, where possible, to represent a diversity of ages, sexes, industries, nations and community interests. The Board of Directors will be prepared to commit time and energy in guiding the activities and managing the affairs of Community Futures 16/37. The majority of the Board of Directors will make themselves available, whenever possible, for meetings.
The Board of Directors of Community Futures 16/37 represents our widespread area and reflects the diverse communities and cultures that make up our “Community of Communities”. Our Board of Directors are all volunteers who are dedicated to the mission of Community Futures 16/37.
